The 8th Festival “Up To YOU(th)” in Nicosia
The “Up To YOU(th)” Festival in Nicosia, taking place on September 28, 2024, at Acropolis Park, is one of Cyprus’ most anticipated youth-centric events. This year marks the festival’s eighth edition, making it an even more special occasion as the Youth Board of Cyprus (ONEK) celebrates 30 years of dedicated service to empowering young people.
Focus on People with Disabilities
With a focus on inclusivity, this year’s festival introduces features to accommodate people with disabilities, such as sign language interpreters, visual aids, and a collaborative basketball match with the Special Olympics. This inclusiveness reflects the festival’s broader mission of engaging all youth in active civic participation, environmental consciousness, and cultural exchange.
The Event is a Vibrant Blend of Activities
The event is a vibrant blend of activities, including the NGO Fair, where over 70 NGOs will participate. These organizations cover a wide range of causes, from human rights and environmental protection to cultural promotion and volunteerism, giving young attendees the chance to get involved in areas they are passionate about.
Music Performances, Creative Workshops, and Technology Demonstrations
In addition to the NGO Fair, the festival will host music performances, creative workshops, and technology demonstrations. Highlights include a Tech Fair featuring virtual reality experiences and robot competitions, as well as a science exhibition with hands-on experiments. Other popular events include the Human Library, where participants can engage in dialogues with “human books and a shared book exchange to promote literacy among the younger generation.
Other Activities
The festival, organized in collaboration with IDEP and aligned with the National Year of Youth, also offers a platform for cultural expression through short film screenings, graffiti art, and live music performances. Younger attendees can enjoy a designated children’s area, making this a truly multi-generational celebration.
